The EB5 Visa covers a number of different possibilities. These include setting up a commercial enterprise, taking over a troubled business or Capital Investments. The EB5 visas were set up under the US Congress to use foreign entrepreneurs and investors to boost the US economy.
Principally, the EB5 Investor Visa, is looking for capital investment. This can be property, equipment and plant along with commercial enterprises. Funding and capital should be brought in by the foreign investors. All transaction should be in US dollars. Investment should not come from any unlawful sources.
The investor must prove that she or he is going to legally provide the investment.
These are the minimum investment requirements:
- The minimum requirement is $1 million for qualifying in this scheme.
- “Targeted High Employment Area”. This could be either urban or rural. The minimum investment is $500,000.
A “Targeted High Employment Area” is one where unemployment is 150% the national average. A rural area is one where local towns have population of less than 20,000.
