This is a system designed to assess your eligibility for this Programme. You will be asked initially for the following set of information:
- Your personal information
- Educational levels and areas of study
- Your main occupation and your work experience
- Level of your English language
- You must be under 45 years of Age
This is an important step of the visa application process. However, it does not automatically mean you can apply for a visa, but it is something that needs looking at seriously. The pass mark is 60 points for Skilled Independent Visa application (189).
To look now at this summary:
You can apply if you are in between 18-45 years of age.
You gain maximum 30 points, if you are aged between 25 and 32.
You have to score at least 6 in each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in an International English Language Testing System in IELTS test.
Apart from it you can appear in an Occupational English Test (OET), Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT), Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic or Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test to prove your required English Language skills.
You get maximum of 20 points if you have superior English.
Skilled Employment- outside Australia
If you have worked for three but less than five years during a ten-year period, this will give you only 5 points.
If you have worked between five to eight years you will score 10 points
The maximum points you get is 15, if you have worked for eight years or more..
If you have worked in Australia for even one year you will get 5 points.
To achieve the maximum of 20 points, you will need to have worked from eight years in Australia in last 10 years.
You get 20 points if you have a doctorate from a recognized foreign University or from an Australian University.
You get 15 points for a recognized bachelor’s degree and 10 points for an award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation.
You also get extra 5 points if you have Masters Degree by research or a Doctorate degree from an Australian educational institution.
Studying in an area with a low density of population in Australia will give you 5 extra points. This could be either a metropolitan area or in the countryside.
You can also score 5 extra points on your spouse’s skill assessment.
Specified Regional Area
The Australian Government is keen to move permanent immigrant workers to areas where there is work of course, but away from the more crowded urban centres. This will both help in the development of the less crowded parts of the country side, along with other urban areas, and take pressure away from the more popular major cities.
There will be health requirements and checks that will have to be fulfilled for both you and for any dependents you might have. .
Police and Character Checks
If you have lived in any country for 12 months or more over a ten-year period, you must show police checks for each of these countries. In fact, all police check and documentation will probably be needed.
You must not have any outstanding debt to the Australian Government.
